Rhode Island Sex Offenders
Rhode Island State Law
The Rhode Island National Sex Offender Registry Assistance Program (NSOR) administered by the Bureau of Justice Statistics (BJS) supports establishing an effective national registry of sex offenders. Such a registry will ensure that accurate and complete information about sex offenders is appropriately made to protect the public and prevent further victimizations. Additionally, the program assists state’s in meeting requirements of federal legislation such as The Jacob Wetterling Crimes Against Children and Sexually Violent Offender Registration Act, Megan’s Law, and the Pam Lychner Sexual Offender Tracking and Identification Act, and their own state legislation regarding these issues. In Rhode Island this will entail certain provisions of its "Megan’s Law", Rhode Island General Laws §11-37.1-1, "Sexual Offender Registration and Community Notification Act".
